Almost Summer Sun

Almost Summer Sun

This air tempts and teases

Of summer heat

Letting us know,

Summer is on its way.

Sun beating down

Reddening my skin

Is healing for my aching heart.

Reminding me

There is joy to be found

Fun to be had

Even when

The one I love is far away.

Sadness is so much easier

To handle in

The light of an almost summer sun.

Nature Heals

Nature Heals

It’s the earth that brings us home

Nature takes us back

Reminding us what’s really important

The beauty of nature

Is enough to knock you off your feet

Fill you with wonder and love.

In moments of

Fear, melancholy and anguish

Nature has the power

To heal,

To take you away from the problems

Fettering your brain,

Wake you up and pull you into

The present moment

And fill you with beauty.

If you are open to receive

All the magic nature has to offer
It will heal and change you

Every chance it can.

Burned Healing

Burned Healing

A trip down to where

The sun is strong

Lifted me out of the stupor,

Jolted me back to life.

The sun warmed me up and thawed

The heavy feeling

Pulling me down.

The freedom woke me up

And set me high once more.

Sunning all day long,

Desperately clinging to its warmth

Hoping to stay forever in

The hands of the sun,

To avoid the heavy, weighted feeling

That comes from staying one place

Too long.

My skin turned red,

The sun that healed also burned.

But it felt so good,

Let it burn away that layer,

The outer shell that locked me in.

Weeks go by and slowly layers peel away

Sloughing off the old skin,

The things that kept me in.

That heavy feeling comes right off.

Burned and scrubbed

But I don’t feel raw.

I’m open and new,

Fresh and ready for the world.

To move, to fly, to reach.

So, I’m not feeling too well today, have a bit of a cold. But sitting out in the warm sun, helps even a nasty cold feel  a bit better. So I decided on this poem because it talks about how sometimes we need to burn in order to heal. Like a phoenix born out of the ashes. Obviously I don’t mean it’s a good idea to sit in the sun until you get a sunburn on purpose, that’s not a healthy thing to do. I mean it more as a metaphor.

What do you think about the healing power of heat?

Of water

Water and Me

Peaceful and free

Flowing like a river

Through me.

I am connected to mother earth.

We are one,

Her life giving water,

Runs in my veins

In sync with the

Waves splashing on the shore.

Each river, each ocean

Lays open before me

I can hold them all in my hand

Fill up the world with all my love.

I’ll open my heart

My body to these waters,

To hold me and heal me.

Rushing and flowing

Letting it be,

Water runs on

Forever free.

Gentle and calm

When sparkling in the sun,

Persistent and strong

Never gives up,

But always moves on.

When no path exists where it wants to go

Create one it must, create one it will.

It won’t get it where it’s going until the right time

Patient and loving

It does what it wants, goes where it please.

I am the water,

The river is me.

We’ll move on together

Both being free

Watching the wind

Until we meet with the sea.

I have always felt very connected to water of any kind. Always loved taking baths, swimming anywhere – rivers, lakes, oceans, pools. Being in or near any kind of water is healing for me – when I’m frustrated or upset I go find a river and sit. I wait until the movement of the water helps my emotions to move along as well. Water is magic to my soul.

What is your relationship with water?
