Forest Place

Forest Place

In the forest

Dark and deep

Is where I long

To lay me down and sleep.

The only sound

Is leaves falling to the ground.

Softly in the distance

Water murmurs and gurgles

Of what no one knows.

A place for rest

Tranquil and subdued,

It’s what I like the best.

Where fairies dance

And magic lasts

All the days and nights.

A special place,

With all the space

For me to be me.

Where do you feel you can just be yourself?

Universe In Me

Universe In Me

The moon sits overhead

Among billions of stars

Reminding me how small

How insignificant I am

In the grand scheme of things.

How tiny my little body is when

I widen my mind

To ponder the great

Vastness of the universe

In which I live.

To sit under a clear night sky

To watch the stars blinking and winking

Also awakens

A yearning deep within,

A memory of a feeling

A connection to that vastness

That exists beyond

The confines of the planet earth.

I am the universe,

It exists within me,

That same star stuff

I see in the night sky

Exists within my very cells.

I am insignificant and yet

I am of the same greatness.

The wondrous open possibilities

That fill me,

The infinite quality of the universe at large,

The stars and nebulas,

The suns and planets

The galaxies and systems

That whirl and twirl and combust

Are part of me and I am separate

From them simultaneously.

I stare like a wide eyed child

In utter awe at the majesty of all

I see and all I know lies beyond.

I was watching Cosmos with Carl Sagan the other night and was completely inspired to write this poem. It was a great documentary, I would highly recommend it. Watching it filled me with a sense of being so small and yet also part of this infinite universe. It’s quite an interesting feeling.

What helps remind you of the vastness of the universe?

Me day!

Take A Day

Walked out of the house today

In fuzzy socks, pajama pants and a sweatshirt

Just to walk the dog.

It’s days where I recognize I’ve done too much,

And am too happy to care

What anyone else has to say about me.

Take a day

Any day, make it a joy day, a me day,

A happy day, a silly day, a just don’t give a hoot day.

Sleep till you can’t anymore,

Take a really hot bath, and soak until you look like a prune,

Then bake really fudgy brownies

Gluten free if you need.

Eat them and lick your fingers,

Put on the sexiest outfit you own

Wink at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how

Damn hot you are.

Drink water out of wine glasses,

Have champagne with breakfast.

Set the table, light a candle and

Have a romantic dinner with yourself.

Turn of your phone, and leave work outside the door.

Get a massage,

Read a book, one of those sappy romance novels

That you secretly love.

Watch movies that bring tears to your eyes.

Lay outside just to feel the sun,

Walk barefoot in the grass in a fancy dress.

Drive until you find something that makes you want to stop,

Put your towels in the dryer right before you use them,

Walk down the street like the rock-star you are.

Give yourself a great big hug

Hideaway until you’re ready to see the world again.

Do what makes you smile,

What makes you fill with glee

And do it on your own time

When you want to because you want to.

It’s days like these, when I laugh

Out loud at the beauty of it all.

Making time for me,

Is the most important thing.

Take a selfish day, and revel in it,

Even if it’s hard, just pretend.

Play a part in a movie,

Where you get to be the rich, selfish leading role.

It really is OK,

Just for a day.

Don’t let it get to your head,

The point is to have fun, and fill yourself up

Be a model to the rest,

Just remember you are not the be all and end all

We are all in this together,

Every now and then I need a me day. A day to rest, recoup and refill my cup – so to speak. I think these kind of days are vastly important to every single human being. We all need days where we can let go of our serious sides and just have fun on our own terms, whatever that means. Me days make everything else seem a little bit better and a little less serious.

What would you do on your me day?

Sending rainbow love

Sending love

I close my eyes

To see the real me.

Radiant being of energy

Filled with love and light.

Casting a million

Tiny strings of

Colored love and light

About the planet,

Connecting with each radiant being.

Each tiny string

Is part of a greater

Plane of light that

Comes from and through me.

Tiny drops of silvery

Love shimmer and sparkle

Down each tiny strand

As they vibrate

With love.

Vibrating to a higher frequency,

I feel it tingle

In my hands, feet, heart,

I can play them

Like guitar strings

Sending energy down one faster

Or slower

Changing the color,

Altering the shape the movement takes.

It’s a magical, mystical game

Sending love to all.

Have you ever had a moment where an image or word just popped into your head and wouldn’t leave? It just rumbled and stumbled around up there until you did something with it? Well that’s where this came from. At some point in meditating this morning, this image of tiny strings of colored light energy flowing out of me came up. As soon as it did I could tell it was sticking around until I processed it. Part of processing for me usually involves writing, but sometimes I break out the paint and colored pencils and pastels and get some color on paper. I have a feeling that may be the case here, but who knows I’ll have to wait and see.

I realized that this image is my interpretation of an aura or energy field or whatever you choose to call it. I’m always very sensitive to and aware of the energy around me, frequently I can feel it vibrating in, through and around me (it’s really cool). This poem is my way of letting you in, and giving a glimpse of what it’s like for me. How do you experience energy?

What I found

All I Found

I took a walk today

I’m left not knowing what to say.

The houses rise up from the street

I’m not sure just who I’ll meet.

It’s all strange and new

Being here without you.

I’ll look long and hard to find myself

Even if all I do is sit up on the shelf.

As the adventure begins

All I want is just to win.

I’ll run and walk to be,

All that means me.

In each face I view

I’ll look deep into you.

Remember all I’ve lost

To see all that I have found.

This poem is a kind of pondering on myself. It’s about the parts of myself that are lost and found, the parts I see in others. It’s about this never-ending search for myself, how I can find myself in places I may have never thought to look. I may find pieces of myself while looking into another persons eyes. I never know what I’ll find or where I’ll find it, but the important thing is to keep looking, to keep searching for me, for who I really am and what I’m all about.
