On the Window

On the Window

I see raindrops on the window

The rain must be coming down

Clouds grumble along

Casting shadows in the room.

I sit in patient waiting

For inspiration to hit me,

I’m left waiting

Patiently while music

Gently plays

In the background.

Life carries on as I write away the day

I look for understanding

For beauty and inspiration

All I find is life,

Not always inspiring.

Till I come down off the pedestal

I created for my creativity

To ride high with

Deeply moving beauty,

And walk barefoot

In the muddy waters

Of humanity

Finding motivation there.

Let go of inspiration

Dwell in present reality

And create from what I see.

I’ll move beyond the window

Look past the raindrops sitting there

Walk the streets below

To feel the raindrops

On my skin.

I’m going to be away on vacation for the next two weeks, and most likely I won’t have access to a computer so there will be a short lag in posts. Don’t worry I’ll be back posting again before you know it!

Tear Drops In the Night

Tear Drops In the Night

Tear drops in the dead of night

Fall from

The spaces

In the places we can’t really see.

Suffering in silence

While the world sleeps.

A quiet night

Made for remembering the days

The times

We never felt the same.

To hear the tear drops

And only think of rain,

Forgetting our own sadness

The connection we all have

In the longing for a better world.

We settle to that longing

For our joy

A happiness beyond compare.

Forgotten is the action,

Forgotten is a way to satisfy the craving

For compassion and passion

Over-bounding bliss.

It’s why we shed

The tear drops in the night

And think of only rain.

After the rain

A walk after the rain

After the rain

All the earth is fresh

The air is clean and new

It has just been scrubbed and showered.

The ground shows the evidence

Without shame,

Before it has had a chance to fully drink

In the cloud sent potion.

The blue of the sky so crisp after the gray

Of the cloud cover hid it away.

The sparkle of the sun reflects the last drops.

All of nature is renewed,

We all reach up to the sun as though we had never before seen.

All that was wilting has renewed strength,

Trees reach out with more resolve than ever before

Glistening and gleaning showing off for all the rest.

What a gift this rain has been

But so too is the sun that follows it.

Everyday no matter what it brings is

It takes a good rain to cleanse the earth. If you have ever taken a moment to really look at and be in nature right after it has rained you can feel a difference. There is an energy in the air, a cleansed feeling pervading everything. I feel this same feeling after a good cry. So often nature can help teach me what I need. A good rain – a good cry – can be just what I need to wash away all the fear and frustration.

What do you notice after it rains?

Standing in the rain

Standing in the Rain

Sometimes the greatest therapy

Is to stand in the rain,

Letting nature wash off

All the crap,

Take it away to mix in with the rivers.

With bare feet,

Toes on wet grass

Sploshing through puddles.

Raindrops tickling bare spots of skin

Quickly drenching

Any clothes adding weight

While removing other baggage.

It’s a cleansing process

While at the same time

Being completely childlike and gleeful.

Right now I’m wishing I could stand out in the rain and let it was away how yucky I feel. I’ve got a nasty cold that’s wiping me out. Thinking about standing in the rain helps me feel slightly better, so does having my family take care of me and tea and soup and a warm blanket.

What makes you feel better when you’re sick?
