Cartoon Clouds
Cartoon clouds float above
Broccoli trees.
While dreams are born
Beneath hope filled skies.
We walk and talk
Search for the days
We didn’t care what others thought.
When we were carefree and fun.
Try to recreate the past
When all we have is now.
Forget yesterday,
I won’t worry about tomorrow.
I’ll live for this moment,
Finding sunshine in the darkness,
And smiling at all the fear
That is present in the world today.
With love, laughter, hugs and
A little bit of silliness,
We can transform all the pain,
The fear.
From doubt, we’ll find faith,
From fear, we’ll find courage,
From pain, we’ll find comfort,
From anger, we’ll find love.
It’s all in perception,
We’ll put on glasses
That add rainbows to everything.
Life will shimmer and sparkle
Always seem new and exciting.
Sometimes all I need to help me change my outlook is a few cartoon clouds. You know the ones I’m talking about, when you look at the sky and the clouds reach out and on forever and it seems like it can’t possibly be real and you just might be living in a cartoon world. I am brought back to childhood emotions of incredible hope, seeing the endless sky and letting my imagination wander. This poem is an exploration of that change of perception, change of outlook. What helps you change your outlook?
