Person of the Light

Image

Person of the Light

I am a person of the light
I wither in the darkness
Shrinking to a lesser
Version of myself.
I blossom in the sun
Lit up to shimmering beauty
Filled with warm strength.

I am a person of the light
I carry pieces of the sun
Into the darkest places
Battling the waning light
From within,
To clear away the doubt.

I am a person of the light
I fear the darkness
Within.
I shudder at the possibility
Of darkness living
Inside.
But it is only in the presence of light that
Shadows of doubt can be created.
I can be light and dark
Multifaceted.

I am a person of the light
I am a person
Which means duality,
No straight lines
No black and white.
Darkness and light
Come in shades.

Person of the Light

I am a person of the light

I wither in the darkness

Shrinking to a lesser

Version of myself.

I blossom in the sun

Lit up to shimmering beauty

Filled with warm strength.

I am a person of the light

I carry pieces of the sun

Into the darkest places

Battling the waning light

From within,

To clear away the doubt.

I am a person of the light

I fear the darkness

Within.

I shudder at the possibility

Of darkness living

Inside.

It is only in the presence of light that

Shadows of doubt can be created.

I can be light and dark

Multi-faceted.

I am a person of the light

I am a person

Which means duality,

No straight lines

No black and white.

Darkness and light

Come in shades.

Forgotten

Image

Forgotten

We are the forgotten

The ones who can’t remember

Who we really are.

A series of events

Has helped in our forgetting.

Life,

Happens, hurts

So we forget,

Maybe we never knew

All the light, goodness

We really are.

It is our job

Now

To be in the business of remembering.

Of discovering our worth

Shouting it high off every mountain

Inspiring along the way.

Once we remember

Our inherent goodness

It will be all we can do

To help inspire others

To remember

A chain of remembering

Coming back to ourselves.

One flame

Jumping from one to another

In time.

Remembering doesn’t have a time limit,

It can happen in an instant

An instant that takes years to come by.

When it happens

Beauty!

From Chaos

From Chaos I Find Light

I’ve been in such a great place

Now things are speeding up

Life is getting fast and crazy.

I’m in a place of waiting

Waiting for new things to start

Breathing for a moment while

Things have settled down.

This is the time when an empty

Mind begins to play

Bringing questions and concerns

Taking me to places that keep

Me up at night.

But it’s these moments

That take me deeper

Force me to regroup

Find my way back to the light.

From the chaos of a

Monkey mind I

See the light and

Connect to my deepest self

In trust and love

Beyond Existing

Image

Beyond Existing

Open up

Let in the light

The love

You came here to get.

Settle for nothing.

Reach to the stars

Come back with

Stardust sprinkling your hair,

Seek out all magic

Bring it to each corner

Of your life.

Wander until you

Find a place to rest

Discover the landscape that

Most cannot see.

Take the time

To really be,

Forget about existing,

We all exist to soar.

Release the binds that tie

Anything that holds you down.

Greet your fear with open arms

Bring it to your chest,

Rock it, hold it, love it deep

Until it melts

Down into marshmallow fluff

And blow it away

On the wind.

Solace in Light

Image

Solace in Light

Candles whisper in the wind

Lighting all our sorrows

Carrying prayers

On waves of heat

Out into the atmosphere.

We look for comfort there

Sometimes finding it

Others finding naught

But empty flickers

Of a white hot flame.

We reach for meaning in the darkness

We reach for solace in the light,

Often forgetting

To reach within ourselves

For both meaning and solace.

Lamplights

Image

Lamplights

Notes of a piano

Disrupt the quiet night air,

Drifting down an empty street.

I walk alone.

Huddled against the cold

Wrapped in layers

Looking to the sky

Coming up with only clouds.

Columns of light

Fall across the sidewalk

From lonely street lamps.

Left to ward off darkness

Sentinels of the night

Left useless in the glaring light of day.

They hold the stories

Silently watching

Nighttime wanderers,

Shedding light on

Those who pass through their reach.

I’m always fascinated by lights in the night, whether stars or streetlights, lamps or candles. There is just something beautiful about any kind of light at night. I relish and appreciate the darkness but a small light in a sea of dark is brilliant.

How do you feel about lights in the night?

Whispers to Free

Image

Whispers You to Free

I’ll whisper

As I set you free,

Of all your greatness.

I’ll shine my light so all

Can see

The brilliance that you are.

I’ll gently blow until the embers light

And burst you into flame.

Standing by as you engulf the world

And shower it with love.

Cleanse each person

Of their fears

Instilling strength within.

I’ll be the hand that lifts you up

I’ll work behind the scenes

Refresh you when you’ve had enough

Fill you in between.

Let me be the one who lights you up,

Who whispers you to free.

This could be my spirit, the universe, a higher power talking to me, or me talking to another. It seems to be divinely inspired. So often when I write I have no idea where the words come from, or what really inspired it. This is absolutely one of those cases, where I don’t try to understand.

What would you whisper to someone to set them free??

Delivered From Within

Image

Delivered From Within

Watching from the sky

As clouds wander by.

Piercing through shadows,

Grasping for the light,

Wading through endless

Fog extending fingers,

Longing to touch

Answers for the questions we

Never thought we had.

Until the moment when

Our light shining from within

Delivers us from

The languish, we laid waste in.

We are carried high above

The loneliness and fear

We struggled with below.

So often we look outside of ourselves for deliverance, for someone to save us. But we forget to look inside, to remember that we can save ourselves, we can deliver ourselves. That the power lies within us to be our own hero, if we can open up enough to allow our light to shine.

When have you seen your own light?
